Soft Abstract Expressionism Art is a story told abstractly in a futuristic way. Soft abstract art is a shoot off from abstract expressionism art which almost always told a story boldly. Soft is beautiful colors which seem to blend into the canvas flowing into forms that tell a story. Nothing easy about seeing it at first glance, it takes a lot of  studying  to even see the forms at first, but when you see them they never go away, almost like those old pictures that if you looked one way you would see a beautiful woman but when you studied it, it became a ugly old woman. It was a study in contrasts or an optical illusion. Nothing is given away  in soft abstract expressionism without contemplation.  If you look at this painting circus above (this is not a finished painting just a work in progress) you will see a clown up at the top of the canvas (or at least most people will), look closer and you will see the jack in the box staring up adoringly  at the clown and look even closer and you will see a lovely little girl in pink and pigtails dreaming of the circus with a circus tent above her head. In the picture Cross  
you at first glance see a golden cross, now look closer and you will see that cross morphing into an angelfish as two observers watch it morph.Now the feel of this is all softly dreamy, that is what soft abstract expressionism is. Is is a soft story, soft lines blending into each other. The abstract comes in as the figures are well figurative, they represent rather than photograph the story to you. Blended muted lines that melt into the canvas, a suggestion of background by blots of beautiful color, which lets the viewer fill in the background with their own eye in  their  own way, and see the picture differently from everyone else viewing it. This is soft abstract expressionism art.

What Makes Art Good?

Good art is merely defined as being a piece of art that you cannot keep looking at. A piece of art is successful if as you remain in the room with it, your eye is drawn to it over and over again. Art is for the eye, it's only purpose is to draw one's eye. Good art pleases, it makes you feel good. If is is colorful, it's colors are a joy to behold. If it is whimsical, it makes you smile. A piece of art is good when you never every tire of looking at it. Do you have art in your possession that makes you feel this way?

Hunger Hurts But Has a Joyful Remedy to Cure

As we move into the season of plenty, bountiful food is ever present and is the centerpiece of all celebrations. At this time we see much talk of the hungry and all sorts of special Christmas dinners for those without means. Let us not forget the human body requires food approximately every 4 to 5 waking hours. It does not run on a holiday schedule. All food is good, and food should be allowed to be given freely without any kind of government restrictions. Painting Possum is a Nocturnal Animal Like It's Namesake.

Looking at my new painting Possum for the last couple of nights and I see that it comes alive at night. Now it is pretty viewed in daylight, but at night it glows like jewel with an inner radiance that compels the eye to it like a magnet. My painting are abstract and the feeling of the painting is what the painting is about, and even though I have never seen a possum in person,the painting was just, a possum. When I awaken this morning it dawns on (get it dawns on me) I think aren't possums nocturnal animals? I google it and yes indeed they are nocturnal animals. So once again I am amazed things, are much curiouser in this earthy life than most of us realize. When the painting feels to be a possum and that painting comes alive at night just like a possum, well that is too cool for words. I like it, I like it a lot. Sea Horse and Lion - Mitro

 As an avid student of the metaphysical and all things we cannot touch with our senses, but only feel with our souls, I love that my painting are created not by myself alone but seem to spring from universal energy.
Almost as if spirit or magical energy is in control of the canvas instead of myself, I see as I swipe paint onto the canvas, images appear.
It is almost as if the canvas is magnetized with a scene and when paint is swiped across it it sticks only to the pixels that create the scene.
 I choose Sea Horse and Lion to demonstrate this, as it is very apparent to see, but all my paintings emerge in this same way.
 I have no drawing skill of any kind, but you can clearly see in this picture a skillfully drawn lion complete with mouth, nose, eyes and mane.
You can also see the sea horse very clearly, and a man in the lower right hand corner of the painting The fascinating part of this is, I start painting with no intention of what I wish to paint.
I merely swipe on paint, scribble with oil crayons and voila a painting emerges.
 I rotate the canvas all 4 ways and there is always one right way but I do not know which way it is until I look at the painting in all four ways.
Boats emerge on water that I have no painted, as in Independence.
3D faces emerge looking at the cross in Cross, that I have no drawn.
The twin towers emerged in one of my first paintings one whole year before the actual 911 in a complete scene, probably because the energy of that scene was so intense.
As I view eternal energy as only good, these paintings are a beneficent gift to me from the non physical plane.
I know that the only real truth is love and that everything else exists only to compare itself to love, and to feel by this comparison the beauty of the true nature of reality.
Everyone who has ever known in their heart that good always trumps bad, has discovered the secret of the Universe and that is only Love and it's sister companions, kindness, empathy, goodness and compassion are real, bad fades away into nothingness as if it never existed, as indeed it is not real, when confronted with the light of good.

Abstraction Places Viewer Firmly Into Painting

Abstract Expressionism art suggests form instead of concrete reality to enable every viewer to put themselves squarely in the picture without reality interfering. For instance an abstract dog can be any dog, a shepherd a collie and on and on, whereas a picture of a collie is just that, a collie and if your dog is not a collie it can be hard to relate. This Is Not Your Grandparents Art And That is Good!. It's 2015, Let's Let Go of The Past and Embrace the Future.

On the very eve of the year 2015, (I find that number incredible even as I type it here), appreciated art needs to catch up to the future it is being created in. The past is past and in order to evolve all around must evolve and keep with current trends and energy. Just as in Rembrandts Rembrandt time, cave drawings were not seen as the holy grail, we need to stop seeing Rembrandt in the year 2015, as the holy grail. Always, always to move forward is good, to dwell in the past, not healthy. So is it the future? I always thought the year 2015 would be so when I was younger. Thinking back to my youth and imagining my home in the year 2015, what kind of pictures would I expect to see on that futuristic date? What kind of pictures would I want on my wall in 2015. I know I always want to learn and feel and experience new things. I have done the old things bring on the newKathy Mitro
 This particular painting I titled Marriage. It is the marriage of the old and the new in Art. The old a knight bridegroom, with a happy go lucky look on his face. The new an alien bride with a pious sour look on her face as she appears to sacrifice herself to this marriage. The preacher is a beautiful purple horse of some sort seen on the left hand side of the painting. If you look beside the couple you will see a candle lit for the marriage ceremony throwing light on the union. You will also see a wedding guest at the very bottom of the left hand side of the painting. Most important of all if you look carefully at the bottom right hand side of the painting, right below the couple, you will see the future child of the marriage an animal curled in sleep and waiting to be born. Look for his eye first and his shape should become apparent to you. As it is set in a futuristic setting the future is absorbing the old and by the fusion of marriage, evolving into the now.

Sure We Can Say Anything We Want, Anyone Can, But is it Wise Or Kind? : Or Oh by The Way Your Baby is Ugly.

Sure we can say anything we want, anyone can, but is it kind and better yet is it wise? I asked a colleague of mine at to take a look at my new art site, and my other baby, my hunger relief site. I asked him because I was very proud of them. Now this is just like showing a picture of your baby to someone, are you really wanting the person to be deadly honest and say wow that's an ugly baby you got there? This is just what this person said to me very loudly and very emphatically. Do I look upon this person as someone I want even the most casual relationship with? No, I don't want to have much to do with anyone capable of such brutal character assassination. I don't want someone to tell me my baby is ugly. What makes people feel other people are open targets to ridicule and derision for their beliefs just because speech is free.
Pope Francis makes perfect sense when he espouses about the Charlie Hebdo situation, when you smack someone and ridicule someone as Charlie Hebdo is doing, you will get smacked back. And you will get smacked in equal proportion to what you have meted out. Respect always respect peoples dignity,it is important. You might get away with small insults with only a tiny mirror back whapping, but the large ones, since we live in an attraction based world, are going to give us a wallop back. I agree with the Pope on this one. Looking at Charlie Hebdo, what makes them think that they are free to be so unkind to people. They are attacking the most important thing in a large group of peoples lives, and saying it's okay, that's free speech, but is it really free? What is the price of this latest paper they published, deaths, riots destruction. You disrespect something of utmost importance to someone, they tell you stop stop and you don't stop, you put yourself in a position for reprisal. Reprisal by killing, no absolutely not, too many wars are fought in this very same name, If you don't believe as I do I must kill you. But in Charlie Hebdo case, why keep pushing someones buttons when they are screaming for you to stop,please stop it is too hurtful. Why be cruel, what do you gain from it? What does this magazine gain from making fun of another's god? Oh yes they say free speech, and yes we are all free to tell someone their baby is ugly, but should we? Do any of us want someone to tell us our baby is ugly? I am not saying Charlie Hebdo or Paris deserved the attack and I bless and grieve for all the lost lives, but it is much like poking a hungry alligator with a stick, why is there surprise when the alligator lunges back, there should there be no surprise at the outcome and anyone involved in such character assignation is not being honest when they say they are surprised they got a reaction.
Lastly I am a complete pacifist I value all life,not just some life and not just the lives whose values are my own. We are all entitled to our freedom to live and not be treated unkindly in the name of free speech. We are all entitled to respect and kindness. Kindness comes when we are kind to others. Charlie Hebdo wants their right to free speech respected and others want their God respected, kind of a catch 22 until you stop and think which is more important ridicule or respect.
