If you look at the center of the painting you will see an inverted tulip. There is a cloud of purple haze above his head and you see him smoking it. He has not completely gone down the wrong path as the circle above his head in the universal symbol of no has just started forming and has no lettering yet.
The purple haze is a shout out to Jimi Hendrix.
