Interview With an Fine Art Artist #1

Artist Kathy Mitro Kathy Mitro

Genre- Soft Abstract Expressionism Art Purely From the Soul With No Filter

Kathy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Daytona Beach Florida in 2009.
She has one son Alexander W. Mitro.

When asked if she was always an artist she replied "Although I first started painting on canvas in the year 2000, I have been creative since childhood with various mediums such as free hand embroidery, free design rug making and jewelry making. Just anything  that was of my own design".

My art Soft Abstract Expressionism is an gentle offshoot of original Abstract Expressionism Abstract Expressionism
It is a softer gentler form characterized by beautiful colors, and soft rounded almost cartoon like characters.
It is painted by a swiping of the canvas with no intent for content just letting the canvas bring up what it will.
It is not abstract though, a painting is never complete until it brings up a concrete image that tells a story.

The thing that I am most proud of in my life is my work in hunger relief. I have started an initiative to pass into law mandatory food rescue and subsequent donation for all large food establishments called the Mitro Mandatory Food Rescue Donation Act Mitro Mandatory Food Rescue Donation Act.

I have to say the artists I admire most are Willem De Kooning Willem de Kooning and literary artist Jack Kerouac Jack Keourac

Although I have a typical artists bias and love all my paintings my favorite three are:

Thought 36" by 48" which tells the story of the creation of all that is material, through the electricity of mind focus.

Desert Sunset Vanquished Sun  16" by 20" which tells a beautiful fairy tale of what happens each night when the sun goes down

Kitten With a Blue Scarf on the Road to Nirvana  11" by 14" which tells the story of a kitten on the road to enlightenment.

All of her art is for sale and available on her website at Mitro Art Gallery Mitro Art Gallery

5 New Art Genres You (Probably) Never Knew Existed.

de Kooning

Ode to my Best Friend Patty Lou - Mitro

 1. Soft Abstract Expressionism-  Leading Artist Katheleen Mitro   Katheleen Mitro

This genre of art uses beautiful colors and soft flowing lines to create playful almost cartoon like characters telling a storyline on one storyboard, the canvas.
Soft Abstract is a gentler offshoot of traditional Abstract Expressionism made famous by de Kooning, de Kooning,  Pollock , Pollock and Rothko Rothko
Soft abstract lets the painting come up with no intention to create anything definite. Paint and crayons are applied to the canvas in various smears and lines letting whatever picture that wants to emerge to emerge.  Soft Abstract Expressionism  Soft Abstract Expressionism

2. Binary Sculptor - Leading artist Koogz

Coining the phrase ‘Binary Sculptor” Koogz’ Koogz art delves into the portion of life usually left unnoticed.  A kind of modern day Michelangelo Michelangelo his art is a combination of objects with their essence contained and then manipulated with the intent of bringing out the unseen characteristics that lie deeper.
A culmination of the theories related to the science of quantum; the behaviors of small particles and the space with which they reside
“Binary” is the language of computers based in math, and it is in the shadows of the binary the imagery challenging what is seen in our limited spectrum is then revealed.

“I am equally observer as creator” as the images unfold and what is revealed is much a surprise to me as anyone as seen in my series titled “Of Hearts & Wings" http://www.koogz.net/

3. Digital Painting
Digital painting Digital Painting  is a method of creating an art object (painting) digitally and/or a technique for making digital art in the computer. As a method of creating an art object, it adapts traditional painting medium such as acrylic paint, oils, ink, watercolor, etc. and applies the pigment to traditional carriers, such as woven canvas cloth, paper, polyester etc. by means of computer software driving industrial robotic or office machinery (printers). As a technique, it refers to a computer graphics software program that uses a virtual canvas and virtual painting box of brushes, colors and other supplies. The virtual box contains many instruments that do not exist outside the computer, and which give a digital artwork a different look and feel from an artwork that is made the traditional way.

4.  Graffiti Art - Leading Artist  Banksy Banksy

Girl with Pearl Earring by Banksy
Street culture and graffiti are well-known for being provocative, appealing, bold and uncompromising. Originally used by gangs to mark their territory in some urban area, graffitis have now become a rich medium for unrestricted expression of ideas and statements. In fact, creative designers and artists across the globe use this form of art to deliver their message and showcase their work. -

5. Photorealism Art- Leading Artist Richard Estes Richard Estes
Beginning in the 1960s, the photorealist movement sought to create shockingly lifelike images, usually in imitation of actual photographs. By copying even the tiniest detail a camera could record, photorealist artists were able to produce “an image of an image of life.” The movement, also known as Super-realism or Hyperrealism, encompassed sculpture as well as painting and was heavily influenced by the contemporary pop art movement. But while pop art ironically removed commercial images from their context, photorealism focused on the power of ordinary, everyday life, recreated as accurately as possible.
Influential photorealist artists include Richard Estes, Audrey Flack, Robert Bechtle, Chuck Close, and sculptor Duane Hanson, who have all produced art amazingly realistic enough to leave you questioning if your whole life has been a lie. The movement is usually not a hit with art critics, who often believe it elevates sheer mechanical proficiency over ideas and style.- John ForbesEstes_tkts_LinePhoto credit: Richard Estes

Is This the Greatest Painting Ever Painted?

Desert Sunset Vanquished Sun   16" by 20"  - Mitro

When we talk about great paintings, paintings destined to go down in history as great masterpieces, we are not  talking only about the great feeling they invoke, but also the potential monetary increase an investment is such a painting will return.
This painting by Kathy Mitro is a glowing, literally and figuratively, top of the line example of  Soft Abstract Expressionism at it's finest.
With it's gorgeous colors it reflects one of the most important aspects of Soft Abstract Expressionism   Soft Abstract Expressionism, color, beautiful beautiful color.
Heavy on symbolism, another key distinguisher of Soft Abstract Expressionism, this painting is rife with symbolic meaning and feeling.
We see the vanquished sun done with it's work  for the day, rest it's weary head on the sand of the desert, while with the sleeping of it's potent energy an unlocking of the mountains occurs from their rigid daily task as stoic sentinels, releasing them into beautiful winged birds that fly away into the night enjoying their nocturnal nightly ritual of freedom
Soft Abstract Expressionism a genre made famous by Mitro, is always soft and always playful.
It is the fairy tale version of Abstract Expressionism Abstract Expressionism   made famous by de Kooning de Kooning and Pollock Pollock
It is always good and  kind and playful and gentle.
It has much positive energy in it.
No darkness..+
